Interview: Preparation

Each of us were informed that we would be doing professional interviews involving a proper professional of the art industry so we had to start preparing a professional portfolio with a selection of 15 – 25 photos to show the professional and explain or inspirations, work style and what we are trying to say through our photos.

Later on we were given a timetable establishing when our interviews are and who the professional was. I was given Thomas Dukes, a freelance photographer curator and educator who has worked alongside the Open Eye Gallery for the past 5 years. The date confirmed for me is Monday 2nd March.

I decided to use my photos from my interim exhibition as the source of my portfolio, I figured it would be the best selection to detail my current style of work and I’ve done recent research of photographers I can source as inspiration for the photos such as Rodchenko and Bresson just to name a few. It would also make the work look much more cohesive and easier to explain what I went with and what my motivation was for the photos that I made. I went with the minimal of 15 photos at A3 size and will be presenting them through a printbox.

I hope that the interview goes well, and if not I can learn where I went wrong and keep a mental note of what not to do next time.
